Fast cars and awesome drivers have been a hit combination in tons of movies, from Steve McQueen in Bullitt to Nic Cage in Gone in 60 Seconds. The latest flick to want to join the pantheon of steering wheel cinema is simply titled Drive.
The movie, which opens September 16, stars heartthrob of the moment Ryan Gosling, and it has a decent premise. Gosling plays the no name “Driver,” a stunt driver by day who makes extra cash when the sun goes down as a getaway driver.
The trailer is pretty intense and gets Gosling’s character across pretty well: ”I don’t carry a gun. I drive.” And drive he does. There is some great footage in the trailer, which shows Driver turning a sweet all-black Mustang into a ballet dancer on four wheels.
The movie’s Facebook page and YouTube channel feature both the Red and Green Band trailers and two extra clips, one of which shows Driver in a slow speed getaway, following right behind the cop car that’s looking for him.[Facebook]
