Over the past several months we’ve seen Subaru roll out concepts previewing its next-generation Impreza—one for the hatchback and another for the sedan. At next month’s 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Japanese automaker will roll out yet another concept, this time previewing its next-generation Crosstrek (previously an XV Crosstrek).

The concept is called the XV, reflecting the name of the Crosstrek outside the United States, and a single teaser shot was released today. It reveals familiar crossover cues such as a raised ride height and underbody protective elements. It also suggests that the new Crosstrek will keep the rugged look and feel of the current model.

The current Crosstrek arrived as a 2013 model. The new one should arrive as a 2018 model, meaning a debut sometime next year. It will be based on the modular platform known as the Subaru Global Platform, whose first application will be the new Impreza arriving at the 2016 New York Auto Show in April. The platform will eventually underpin all of Subaru’s range apart from the replacement for the BRZ sports car.

Stay tuned for the full reveal of the Subaru XV concept during the Geneva Motor Show’s March 1 opening day. In the meantime, you can learn about some of the other cars appearing at the Swiss show by visiting our dedicated hub.
