Sebastian Vettel at 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix

Teams will be enjoying warm weather today at the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, with temperatures in Budapest expected to peak around 70 degrees F (21 degrees C) and conditions remaining only partially cloudy.

The weather at the Hungaroring race track during the summer months is traditionally hot and dry though we are expecting slightly milder conditions today. There have also been some early showers though this is expected to clear up in time for racing later today.

It should be a welcome change to the chilly conditions at the Nurburgring last week for the 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix.

It looks like Championship leader Sebastian Vettel is on track to extend his points lead after taking pole position during qualifying, however, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, the winner of the previous race, will be biting at his heels from one spot back in the grid. Filling out the third spot will be Jenson Button, also of McLaren.

Next in line will be Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso, followed by Vettel’s Red bull Racing team-mate Mark Webber in sixth place.

If one of the other drivers manages to overtake Sebastian Vettel early on, it should certainly end up an exciting day of racing.

Nevertheless, Vettel has a clear lead over his rivals in the Drivers’ Championship with a total of 216 points. This is a full 77 points ahead of second placed Webber and 82 points ahead of third placed Hamilton.

In the Constructors’ Championship, Red Bull Racing is the clear leader with 335 points, followed by McLaren on 243 points and Ferrari on 192 points.
