Ferrari’s XX line of cars are your regular run-of-the-mill Italian exotics but are in fact a rolling test-bed for new technologies that will eventually filter across to Ferrari’s future road and race cars.
The first was the awesome FXX and subsequent FXX Evolution
, both based on the Enzo platform and developing upwards of 850 horsepower. The second was the 599XX based on the 599 GTB Fiorano platform
, and like the FXX before it was only offered to a very select group of customers known as Ferrari client test drivers.
To be recognized as a Ferrari client test driver, you either needed to know somebody very high up in the sports car company or you needed to be a long term customer, or both. Needless to say, getting your hands of a Ferrari XX experimental car is extremely difficult, or so we thought.
Over the past couple of years, a number of XX models have turned up for sale in the aftermarket. The latest is a nearly pristine 599 XX, which has only 932 miles on the clock and is priced at approximately $1,940,000.
The car is painted black and has much of its carbon fiber pieces exposed. It also has a 700 horsepower 6.0-liter V-12 engine sitting under its long bonnet, which is capable of propelling the thing around the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany in just 6 minutes 58.16 seconds
According to the seller, the previous owner was from France. For full details and more images of the Ferrari 599XX, click here
