Still unsure if the $100,000-plus Tesla Roadster is for you? Well, Tesla is hoping to change all that with its latest promotional effort, the Drive Change Electric Roadster Tour, which will see the company’s iconic Roadster paraded across the country in order to convince buyers that electric performance is the way to go.

Tesla is planning to kick off its tour on May 14 in Colorado Springs. Special test drive events will then be offered from Seattle, Washington to Naples, Florida, inviting prospective customers to get behind the wheel of the vehicle that helped start the electric car revolution.

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, the Tesla Roadster is an all-electric sports car capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and driving up to 245 miles on a single charge.  It can be plugged into any conventional electric outlet, and costs less than $8 to fully charge.

On top of saving dollars at the pump, the Roadster has a low cost of ownership, requiring zero oil changes and smog checks. And its lack of a complex combustion engine means less routine maintenance and fewer parts replacements.

Additionally, customers in the U.S. receive a $7,500 tax credit, in addition to individual state incentives like $5,000 tax credits and sales tax waivers. Owners in most states also benefit from automatic HOV lane access.

According to Tesla, to date, more than 1,600 Roadsters have been delivered in over 30 countries worldwide.
