It’s been two months since the Japan earthquake disaster but the effects, especially on the auto industry, are still being felt all around the world. Aston Martin is showing its full support for the island nation, with its CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez announcing plans to auction his Rapide company car at this year’s annual Bonhams auction at Newport Pagnell in the UK, with all proceeds to go to charities providing aid to victims of the recent earthquakes and Tsunami in Japan.

Chassis number ‘F00039’ is a UK specification, right-hand drive Aston Martin Rapide built in late 2009 exclusively for use by Bez.

It’s finished in ‘Concours Blue’ paint and comes with a black leather interior accented by walnut wood trim. The car also has heated and cooled front and rear seats, an integrated garage door opener and a rear seat entertainment system incorporating a twin-screen DVD system and infrared headphones.

In support of the initiative, Bonhams has also committed to waiver its commission on this lot. The auction will take place at May 21.
