Rick Hendrick Hand-Builds A Corvette Z06 Engine

Rick Hendrick Hand Builds Corvette Z06 Engine

Buyers of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 or ZR1 can hand-build their engines by participating in what Chevy calls the Corvette Engine Build Experience. NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick--he of the eponymous Hendrick Motorsports team--chose to do just that when he bought his Z06 Carbon Edition.

We have pictures of Hendrick building the Z06's 7.0-liter, 505-horsepower LS7 V-8 in Wixom, MI., courtesy of GM. And darn if the NASCAR owner doesn't look right at home building that V-8.

Whether at the race shop or at the factory, engine-building by hand is a unique skill, and Corvette buyers have the chance to try their hand.

  1. Hendrick is participating in General Motors' exclusive Corvette Engine Build Experience, through which customers ordering a Corvette Z06 or Z01 may opt to assemble their cars' engines at the Performance Build Center here.http://bit.ly/kv5EQf
