2012 Hyundai Accent sneak peek

Only a few days remain until the start of the 2011 New York Auto Show where we'll see, among many other debuts, the 2012 Hyundai Accent. But that's not stopping Hyundai from dropping a sneak peek at the car from its shindig at Coachella Live today.

The full reveal comes on April 20th, but this image confirms what we already knew: the Accent, like the Sonata and Elantra, will share in Hyundai's new design themes. This hatchback version, though it only shows the middle half or so, shows the same characteristic creases along the beltline and familiar window shapes.

Under the hood of the Accent, we expect a 1.6-liter four-cylinder rated at 140 horsepower. It should be paired with a choice of a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. Up to 40 mpg highway is possible, and there are rumors a hybrid version may follow in a few years.
