Porsche 918 Spyder To Be Sold In Just Four Colors? Not Likely

Porsche 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid supercar

Raw performance wrapped in beauty and driven by an environmentally-conscious flair, the Porsche 918 Spyder is possibly the archetypal expression of the supercar for the future. For those with the $845,000 to buy it, however, the choice of its color may be very limited.

According to a document obtained by WorldCarFans, purporting to be a leaked internal spec sheet, the 918 Spyder will only be available in Carrera White, Basalt Black, Platinum Silver, and basic black. Just one interior color will be available: black. Given the stratospheric pricing, we doubt this information will hold through production, as Porsche will certainly be willing to tailor the limited-volume hyper-performance hybrid to the buyer's wishes.

Beyond the questionable tidbit of info, the document supposedly confirms what we already know: it will get a V-8 engine in the neighborhood of 500-horsepower, a pair of electric motors rated around 215 horsepower total, and offer up to 16 miles of all-electric range. Four driving modes will cover any situation from urban center to wide-open race track, and it will hit 60 mph in a tick over three seconds before arriving at a top speed just shy of 200 mph.
