2011 Bentley Mulsanne
Almost two decades after the last Bentley Turbo R rolled into the sunset, the revered nameplate is reportedly set for a comeback on a new coupe version of the latest Mulsanne luxury sedan.
With the unveiling of the new Mulsanne back in 2009, there were immediately claims that both coupe and convertible versions of the new Bentley flagship would be built. And now, an inside source at Bentley has revealed that a high-performance version of at least the Mulsanne coupe could be launched under the guise of a new generation Turbo R.
No official confirmation has been made but the possibility is reportedly being examined. If given the go-ahead, the new Mulsanne-based Turbo R could be on sale by 2013.

It would share the Mulsanne’s twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V-8 engine but peak output would likely be lifted beyond the sedan’s 505 horsepower, probably to somewhere around the 600 horsepower mark.
Additionally, like its predecessor, the new Bentley Turbo R would also pick up a host of chassis mods including stiffer suspension, stickier tires and uprated brakes.
