Just this morning Mercedes-Benz officially took the covers off the new Concept A-Class. This afternoon, we get an explanation of what flame surfacing is a decade after Chris Bangle started flinging it at every BMW in sight, only they call it "freeform."

We also get a look at a few of the other details on the concept, including the roofline/greenhouse proportions, the headlights, and the "jewelry effect" inverted grille.

Jokes aside, the new A-Class is a pretty dashing little compact. Will we see it here in the U.S.? Here's hoping.
