Aston Martin Virage Pricing Announced

Late last month we told you Aston Martin had plans to introduce a new version of the Virage at the Geneva Motor Show. That has happened and pricing was set at $209,995 for the coupe and $224,995 for the convertible.

In the Aston Martin hierarchy, Virage is one of the larger Aston coupes, slotting in between the DB9 and the DBS. For purposes of comparison, the Vantage is considered a small Aston coupe.  The Virage essentially bridges the comfort and touring ability of the DB9 and the outright performance potential of the DBS.

To recap the Virage's specs, that money buys you a 490-horsepower version of Aston's V-12 displacing 6.0 liters. The engine is distinguished in appearance by the black plenum topping it. More than decorative, the plenum also increases the rigidity of the intake manifold.

The only transmission available is a six-speed torque converter automatic, dubbed Touchtronic 2 in Aston parlance. The sport mode button makes the transmission shift faster while holding it in gears longer. Leather-wrapped magnesium shift paddles mounted on the steering column permit manual control of the gear ratios.

While the Virage uses the same platform as DB9, bushings, spring rates, and suspension mapping are unique. The shocks are adjustable, and the sport mode button also stiffens them up for more body control in dynamic situations. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, just as on the DBS, but employing larger rotors than the DB9. Twenty-inch P-Zeros do tire duty, sized 245/35 on the front of the car and 295/30 on the rear. Sized like the DBS, the P-Zeros are not as aggressive as the Corsas worn by the DBS.

The Virage is expected to make its North American debut in early July, just in time to be the darling of the Pebble Beach Concours. To whet appetites, Aston Martin has released the following highlight reel.

Enjoy!
