Lexus uses a 2011 LS 460 in its latest champagne glass ad

Back in 1989 Lexus ran a television commercial highlighting the refinement of its LS 400 luxury sedan by sitting a tower of champagne glasses on its bonnet while it attempted a 145 mph run on a dyno. Suffice it to say, the glasses didn’t tumble and Lexus could proudly boast that its flagship sedan was one of the smoothest running vehicles on sale at the time.

Fast forward to today and one owner of a current 2011 Lexus LS 460 attempted to recreate the ad, though he simply had the car revving in neutral on his driveway. Obviously this is not the same as having the car strapped to a dyno and running at almost 145 mph, but Lexus thinks it was neat and has decided to recreate its own ad minus the dyno as well.

Watch the latest ad in the video below and then scroll down to see the original ad from 1989 and the owner’s attempt.
