We’ve seen a lot of modified Audi R8s in the past but there’s something just sinister about the new ‘Hyper Black’ Audi R8 from German tuning firm Anderson. Based in Dusseldorf, Germany, Anderson’s engineers start with the range-topping V-10 Audi R8 and boost output to a relatively mild--but perfect for the street--589 horsepower.

This power increase was implemented through a Rennkats exhaust system, which also happens to shave some 50 pounds from the car’s curb weight, as well as software optimization of the ECU and the addition of a high-flow air filter. Note that the exhaust system also features a remote-controlled valve adjusting system that lets the driver opt from three different levels of noise.

To match the performance upgrades beneath the sheet metal, Anderson also fits carbon-coated 19-inch wheels, orange painted brake calipers, and a carbon fiber exterior package. This latter piece of kit comes with a new front spoiler lip, rear spoiler for improved downforce, a rear diffuser and special side mirrors.

To add to the sinister look, all the windows and rear lights were also tinted black. Inside, there’s plenty of carbon fiber elements, and leather and Alcantara trim with contrasting orange highlights.
