If you had any doubt that racing safety has come literally light years ahead in the past century, this video should erase it. Horrific, brutal, and often deadly crashes in the days before seatbelts, safety cells, and fire suppression systems were an accepted, if feared, part of the sport.

The music accompanying video is well-suited to its role, and almost makes us not mind that we can't hear the sounds of the cars. We're grateful we can't hear the impacts, the explosions, and the screaming.

    Almost 90% of drivers died in crashes like this in the old'n racing. so say all of these videos minus 5 died.
