Rumor: 2014 BMW i8 Joins The Cast Of Mission Impossible

2009 BMW EfficientDynamics Concept

If you follow car news, you probably remember when BMW dropped trou on its oddly named Vision EfficientDynamics Concept back in 2009. You might also have noticed BMW's announcement last week about the company's new "i" sub-brand, topped by the aforementioned EfficientDynamics Concept, which has thankfully been renamed the i8.

Still with us? Great.

Well, we have it on good authority from our colleagues at AllCarsElectric (who have it on "good", unsourced authority from The Sun) that the i8 will make its big-screen debut in the upcoming Mission Impossible sequel, which is either called Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol or Mission Impossible: Yes, We're Still Milking This Cow. We hear the debate is pretty heated.

And...that's about all we know. BMW hasn't told us much about the production version of the i8, other than that it'll be a diesel-electric hybrid. Across the pond, producer J. J. Adams hasn't shared many details about the movie -- though we're pretty sure that Cruise will do his own stunts because that's just his thing. (Ah, short guys.)

Still, they're a good pairing, right? The i8 is sleek, cool, stylish, and mysterious; Mission Impossible is sleek, cool, stylish, and a complete mystery. Match made in heaven.

  1. This is such a beautiful concept car, I would pay money to see Mission Impossible for the car alone.
