A pair of Volkswagens--both Golf and Polo--in Giugiaro-styled Italdesign concept form have emerged from the ever-leaky European patent office a week ahead of their scheduled debut in Geneva. Portrayed in unflattering gray-on-gray, they still manage to look quite good.


While the futuristic details (mid-window bars, rear-view cameras) may not make the production cut, the overall shapes and proportions are certainly feasible. We'll have the latest official word and images as soon as they're available, plus our own live coverage of the show when press days open March 1.

    For a look into the future these concepts surely ain't progressive, Volkswagen got shortchanged especially now that they also own ItalDesign. the Mk1 Golf/( also Scirocco ) of the early 70's which Giugiaro also penned are way better than this two next-gens.

    Hmmn its looking like they are continuing a well worn theme for the Golf that people seem to forget. It's an EVOLUTIONARY design. the forumla works so no need to fix it. they jsut modernise it with each version to fit into todays sensibilities. for the market that they are aiming for they want a good looking car that does everything that they want it to and well, yet not look out of place still on the road 5 years later because design tastes and trends have shifted.

    Bring it on! This is what the Golf should look like now -- more SEAT and less like a Toyota appliance. Italdesign in and Walter D'Silva out for designing VWs. I can't wait to see the Italdesign versions of the new generation US Jetta, Passat, and Tiguan.

    This Golf concept looks at lot like the Italdesign Isuzu Impulse. Just do it!

    Now that is one nice looking Golf. Its in the same league as the present Sirocco. Well done, just make the car!
