Today may be the international day of love but for McLaren, February 14 marks the end of development of its MP4-12C supercar and the start of the marketing phase. The company based out of Woking, England has released today the full press release for the MP4-12C and a gallery of more than 50 images.
Full series production will take place at the not-yet-completed McLaren Production Center (MPC) this spring, but the first batch of cars is already being built under the tight controls and watchful eyes of McLaren's best at the Technology Center (MTC).
In case you've forgotten, the MP4-12C uses an innovative carbon fiber monocoque chassis tub, a potent 600 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and some of the purest motorsports-derived electronic controls to ever hit the street.
And, in case you’re wondering, McLaren’s new baby will start at $229,000 here in the U.S. That's a hefty pricetag we’re sure you’d agree but it's right on par with the MP4-12C’s intended competition--the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.
The McLaren MP4-12C will be distributed to a dedicated network of 35 retailers in 19 countries around the world, including the U.S. Expect it to reach local showrooms this fall. Enjoy the video below and then hit the following page for the full official press release.
