Ford Planning 'Groundbreaking' New Vehicle For Geneva Motor Show

Alongside a wide range of updated, new, or new-to-Europe cars and concepts at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Ford is planning to reveal an all-new vehicle it calls "groundbreaking." The debut happens at 2:30 p.m. local time March 1 in Geneva.

Ford of Europe Chairman and CEO Stephen T. Odell will host the unveiling. So far, there's very little known about the promised groundbreaker, however. Rumors around a hybrid, Fiesta-based microvan/MPV have some credibility, but Ford may have something yet more exciting up its sleeve.

Also on display at the Ford booth in Geneva will be: the Vertrek concept; the Focus Electric; the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid; the Fiesta RS WRC; a new global Ranger Wildtrak; and a range of Ford's in-car technologies.

We'll keep you posted on Ford's "groundbreaking" plans for Geneva as the show draws closer.

    Hey, Ford, what I would call groundbreaking is your delivering clean diesel engines to the US market, something that Europe already gets.

    What I would call a ground-breaking vehicle would be a new Thunderbird, Torino, Bronco, or LTD sedan/coupe for 2012 Point said : Give the people what they want and stop worrying what the foreign market is doing, FORD.

    i guess number one hasnt heard of the 6.7L diesel in the trucks. ford claims you can drink the water that comes out of the tailpipe.

    Hey, Mr. J, I believe what Mr. D was talking about was the abundance of diesel engines that are available in almost every model of passenger car in Europe. Want a diesel Focus? You can get one (and get 42mpg with it!). Want a diesel in your Audi? Get an A2 Sport with a 1.4L or even a FourTwo with a 1.3L. Don't want an econobox? How about a Land Rover Range Rover, a BMW 7 series, a Mercedes S-Class, an Audi A6 or a Volvo SUV? Diesels are all over the place in the EU.
    Why can't we have these here in the states?
