The return of the Camaro Z28 is all but inevitable. And now, thanks to a poster on the Camaro5 forums, we have a clue about when production will begin: January 1, 2012.

According to the post, the car is being referred to internally at GM (NYSE:GM) as the "HP Edition." Which, we presume, means "high performance edition."

Other news include a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, a magnetically-controlled suspension, 285-millimeter tires in the front and 330-millimeter tires in the rear, a hood with louvres, and slight interior upgrades.

An early January production date means that the car will likely go on-sale shortly thereafter. We'll keep you posted.
