What does a gaggle of geeks have to do with cars, you ask? Nothing, really, except that the Consumer Electronics Show has grown over recent years to become one of the clearinghouses for late-breaking automotive technology, and this year, it'll host the unveiling of the 2012 Ford Focus Electric.
Ford CEO Alan Mulally is the keynote speaker at the event for the second year running, so this is really no surprise. What is a bit surprising, however, is the decidedly Tron-like effects surrounding the charging port lid and the somewhat overwrought E-LECTRIC logo on the door.
Beyond those two details, however, we're left guessing as the the design of the all-electric battery-powered Focus Electric. That is, beyond the fact that we fully expect it to look like an aero-massaged standard Focus with some more of the green trimmings previewed here.
The unveiling comes nearly a full year after the standard, combustion-powered Focus got its reveal at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, and we expect it to be on display for the automotive world at the 2011 Detroit show after making its debut at CES.
We'll keep you posted on the full details and further teasers as they break, so stay tuned.
