Donkervoort D8 GTO teased in Christmas card

The long stretch of December holidays is often a slow time in the automotive world as manufacturers take extended breaks and the auto show season lulls post-Los Angeles and pre-Detroit. In Europe, however, they like to keep things moving despite the slowdown--or at least the Dutch at Donkervoort do. Case in point: the D8 GTO.

The hotter, more powerful, GT4-ier D8 GTO builds on the existing D8 GT's basis, growing larger, adding a new carbon composite and steel chassis, and snagging its power--possibly--from the 2.5-liter turbocharged five-banger found in the Audi TT-RS and RS3.

All we have to work with for now is this grainy shot from a holiday card sent out last week, but we expect to be able to fill in the official details sometime during the first half of the new year, perhaps at the Geneva Motor Show.
