2007 Citroen C4 Picaso 1.6 Hdi VTR +

As a previous owner of a Citroen C4 Picasso I feel like I should share my thoughts on the car that Made my family life so much easier and in a quite major accident my three young children escaped relatively unharmed.

The Citroen C4 Picasso I owned was a 1.6Hdi VTR +, we kind of had no choice when our third child was born we need a car that could fir three child seats in the rear. In the UK there are not too many choices if you have less than £20,000 to spend, there are even fewer choices if your budget is lower than £15,000.

I owned the C4 for over two years, doing 60,000 miles in that time. The fuel consumption was fantastic returning a combined 44mpg, it didn't seem to make much difference driving around town, on the motorways this could go up to 50 - 60mpg at 70mph. If you headed towards 80mph then fuel consumption was quite a bit heavier.

As you would expect for a medium sized family car the ride was comfortable but firm. Any softer and the roll in the corners would probably have been excessive but as it was it handled well (for an MPV anyway).

The list of extras was pretty comprehensive, I missed bluetooth phone prep but the rest made up for it:-
  • Cruise Control
  • Speed Limiter
  • Ambient Lighting
  • Auto wipers
  • Auto Lights
  • 3 x Full size rear seats (great for all the family)
  • Central cool box
  • Paddle shift gears
  • Airbags where I didn't know you could get airbags (as I was to find out at a later date)
And the endless storage compartments made for a fantastic family car!

The only reason I am no longer driving the C4 is because I was involved in an accident when someone drove head on into me, both doing about 25mph it made for a pretty big impact. Thankfully we all walked away with relatively small injuries my wife broke her sternum and I have a problem with muscle spasms in my back still...but the children must have been made of rubber as apart from a few bruises where the seat belts held them firmly in place the didn't seem to suffer any other injuries...

The above reason alone is one reason why I wouldn't hesitate uin recommending a C4 Picasso to any family.
