Updated: The video segment from The Martha Stewart Show showing the new BMW X3 has been added to the story.

Original: Last month we reported on a new online tool developed by BMW to help promote the arrival of the all-new X3 SUV and featuring a special built-to-order program that allows customers to create a vehicle built to their exact specifications.

BMW has now got television personality Martha Stewart to accept an invitation to design her dream 2011 BMW X3 using the very same “Build Your Own” tool on the automaker’s website. Customization is a specialty for the new BMW X3, as the vehicle has more than 70 million unique configurations.

Martha Stewart designed her own particular X3xDrive35i to have a Sparkling Bronze Metallic exterior, one of three special exterior colors that are only available for BMW X3 custom orders. Her vehicle also featured a Sand Beige Nevada leather-lined interior accented with Fineline Wave wood trim.

Recently, Martha and “The Martha Stewart Show” crew went to Spartanburg, South Carolina to watch the production of her BMW X3. There she experienced firsthand how the vehicle is made and ended the day with a visit to the BMW Performance Center to test it out on the track.

The particular episode of The Martha Stewart Show with the Spartanburg visit will air tomorrow.
