Diego Dolls Aren't Carpool Legal, Dummy

Weird and wacky news isn't solely the province of Florida or California, though they certainly have significant market share. Seattle, Washington made a bid for front-runner status today, with one commuter strapping his kid's Diego doll into the passenger seat to fool carpool lane restrictions on a late run to work.

Sadly, we can't even give the driver the nod for creativity. He could stand a lesson from this speed camera-flouting Phoenix resident dressed in a gibbon mask.

The state trooper that pulled the man over said the odd-looking occupant drew his attention, causing him to stop the car. The driver's explanation didn't cut the mustard, however, and he earned a ticket for his efforts. We bet he was late to work, too.
