With the winter months now upon us it’s now more important than ever to ensure that your vehicle is properly equipped to handle the harsher climates. If you happen to live in areas where winter usually means driving in thick snow, not having winter tires may mean the difference between life and death as this latest video from BMW reveals.

Using a pair of new 2011 BMW X3, one equipped with winter tires and the other with summer rubber, BMW’s test drivers take the vehicles out on the snow in the Austrian Alps and demonstrate the braking and handling abilities with each respective set of tires.

As you would expect, the results are quite alarming.
