The Torque Arm - The crown jewel in the Griggs Racing GR40 SS suspension package, the Griggs Racing torque arm is what makes this kit so much better than just another S197 coil-over package. The backend now feels completely solid and stable. More importantly, it feels controllable - Predictability and and control, even in track drifts and poor traction conditions allows you to get things straightened out when the backend slides out.

Control Arms and Coil Overs - Race quality and strength without sacrificing ride quality. On the street the car has perfect manners, ride quality is not sacrificed at all. It's feels much tighter and responsive, without being harsh. You do feel the bumps a bit more, and you can hear the advanced suspension components doing their job. The car is given a stance that only comes with the GR40 SS package.

Relocation brackets provide the much needed fix to the stock suspension geometry and allow for the running of much wider wheels and tires. We are currently running 285's all around on 9.5" wheels, but you can run 11.5" wheels and 315's all around with the right offset and camber.

The GR40 SS kit utilizes the stock front arms, but adds some much better bushings. While the stock arms are a little heavier than some aftermarket arms, the Griggs Racing engineers have found that the stock arms are actually stronger than most of the lighter aftermarket parts. Of course you could always pony up the bucks for the GR40 TT's proprietary SLA front end.

The GR40 SS kit utilizes front suspension components made to their specs by the renowned experts at Ground Control. A specially valved GT500 front coil over kit, topped off with built-in Ground Control caster/camber plates. Looks almost as good as it works.

On the track, the car feels completely stable at any speed. Our RPM Mustang is a completely different car now on the track. It attacks corners and gives you the confidence to go faster and push the car harder. Body roll is almost completely eliminated. It really is a purpose built race suspension that shines on the track.

Even with us non-professional drivers, we were able to consistently place in the top 5 against Lamborghinis and professional factory race drivers.

I have driven over 5,000 miles in 14 days on our RPM Mustang's new Griggs Racing GR40 SS suspension kit, and it has been an absolute pleasure. It's worked PERFECTLY !!! We really threw everything at it - Long highway drives, stop-and-go traffic, in town/city driving and some fairly grueling track events. The GR40 SS is a great suspension package for any street or track purpose Mustang build, and definitely get's two thumbs up from the team at Real Performance Mustangs.

    The car begs to be thrown into corners, and you can really feel it just sit down and keep hold no matter how hard you push it.

  4. One day I'd like to have my `69 rebuild against such cars. Just a matter of time and money, like most resto-mods.
    I'd ace you guys, though. Like any egocentric driver thinks he could :P

  6. very cool!! sounds like a fantastic product package.
    I'll definitely have to keep Griggs in mind when I get to upgrading the suspension on the GT500! =)

  7. I noticed that these photos also show the Wilwood brakes that were installed on our RPM Mustang at the same time as the suspension package. I'll have to do a seperate article about these, becuase there is some great information I learned about high performance disk brake solutions for our S197 Mustangs from Miguel Jimenez at Wilwood. We works with Vaughn Gettin Jr. and other drifters, and has a wealth of brake system knowledge.
