Video of the Day: Ford Cougar vs. Ford Focus WRC vs. Ford F1

Follow Michael

It’s difficult to comprehend the difference in speed between a stock street car, a race-prepped rally car, and an F1 car unless you actually witness it for yourself.

And while Jeremy Clarkson may not have been the first person (and he most certainly won’t be the last) to pit a car from each of these categories against one another on a track, he does do it with a bit of style.

Check out this video from Clarkson’s younger days in which a Ford Cougar, a Ford Focus WRC, and a Stewart Ford V10 F1 car duke it out on the track. Of course, the V-6 170-horsepower Cougar is seriously outmatched by the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Focus and the 800-horsepower V-10, so this race won’t show us much about the drivers’ skills or how the cars stack up against each other.

No, the real question is: Did Clarkson get enough of a head-start? Find out for yourself...
