The current Civic has been around since 2006, and it's started to look a bit dated. With a whole slew of compacts coming out from Honda's competitors--Fiesta and Mazda2, if you like, but more like the Kia Forte Koup--it's no surprise to see an update in the works for the Honda two-door.
According to MotorAuthority, there will still be the sedan and coupe versions of the Civic, with a hybrid powertrain as an option for the sedan. The others will be powered by a four-cylinder engine mated to either a CVT or a manual transmission. Rumor has it that the hybrid powertrain could be the same one found in the CR-Z.
From the look of the images, the new Civic will be an improvement on the current generation. The droopy jowls will be lost for what seems like a happy front fascia. Sadly, there is no word on the return of the Civic hatchback, which will upset a lot of college students. There is, however, a rumor of a three-cylinder version that may be geared towards fuel economy much like the fuel-sipping VX back in the nineties.
Now, let's see that Si version.
