Top Gear iPad/Mobile Game Coming...And So Is The U.S. TV Show

Know Your Mobile reports that according to British news agency MCV, our favorite automotive television show, Top Gear, will be made into a video game for a variety of platforms. The iPad and mobile versions of the game are scheduled to arrive by the end of the year, but PC and console versions are being considered as well. There’s no word yet as to how the game will capture Top Gear’s essence, or even what the game will entail, but I doubt that hardcore fans will care too much once they’re given a chance to join in the fun.

And while news of a Top Gear game is exciting, we’re more eagerly anticipating the premiere of the U.S. version of the Top Gear TV show, set to launch this year. Robert Nashak, BBC Worldwide’s Executive Vice-President of Digital Entertainment, told MCV, “Top Gear is a priority for us. We are coming out with an American format of Top Gear. If that takes off, and I hope it does, then I believe that Top Gear will become a powerhouse global brand.” And while this announcement has left me crestfallen at the fact that I won’t be hosting the American version of the show, I have to agree with Nashak and say that I hope the U.S. version does well too.
