The spy photos of a Nissan GT-R running around the Nürburgring have been confirmed as not a hot new trim, but a refresh of the basic model. GTRBlog, a great source for all things related to this Japanese supercar, has gotten some news about the latest GT-R coming to our shores for the 2012 model year.
The spy shots have already provided views of the new front bumper that decreases drag but it has been confirmed that the front bumper will be getting small LED daytime running lights. The blog states the new rear diffuser will increase downforce by 10 percent.
The cars will also be getting much lighter and stiffer wheels from Rays Engineering. Each wheel will weigh 6.6 pounds less than the current model to reduce unsprung weight. The wheels will also be available in two different colors, Hyper Blue Black and Hyper Titanium.
The car gets two new paint colors. The first is a called Aurora Flare Blue Pearl which is reminiscent of the R34’s famous “Bayside Blue.” The other color is called Nebula Opal Black, which will replace the current GT-R’s black.
Rumors of the base model disappearing seem to be false, as it is just being renamed the “Pure Edition.” The Premium model will remain, but both cars will get a slight price increase as most new cars usually get.
