2011 Mazda2
And doesn't it look happy to see you? The all-new Mazda2 is Mazda's new entry in to the B-car segment and shares underpinnings with the new Ford Fiesta. You might recall that the Focus and Mazda3 also shared parts, and which was always the better car? In my opinion, it was always the Mazda3.
With that taken into account, this should be better to drive than the over-hyped Fiesta. Okay, it doesn't look as striking in photographs, but all I can think of when I look at it is a previous generation Mazda3 that went through the dryer at too high of a temperature. Is that really a bad thing?
Power comes from a 1.5-liter 100 horsepower four-cylinder engine, which isn't as much as the Fiesta. I have a feeling that won't necessarily be a bad thing though, because this is a car that should hold up to the ancient petrol head saying: "It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow." The Mazda2 is also over 100 pounds lighter than the Fiesta. Mazda has demonstrated time and time again that they know how to set up a chassis for fun, and with a small, light car like this the fun factor has to be insanely high.
Best of all, it is pretty darn cheap. Prices start just under $14,000. Start paying your credit cards on time and find yourself a co-signer kids.
