Is it to early to declare the new 5.0 a bust?  Maybe so but all the hype and marketing push from Ford has not helped to increase sales as they would have hoped.  Ford Mustang sales are down for the second straight month and as this bad economy keeps dragging along its not helping one bit.  The Camaro and Challenger are not immune to it either as their sales have flattened out as well.  Check out the numbers below and give us your take on it in the comments.

Sales of the Ford Mustang for July of 2010 were 7,489 compared to 6,686 from July of 2009 showing a 12% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 47,524 compared to 40,474 for 2009, which is a 17.4% increase.

Month to Month sales were down again for the second straight month as June 2010 sales were 8,974 compared to July 2010 sales of 7,489 which is a 20% decrease.

Taking a look at the competition the Chevrolet Camaro sold 7,486 while the Dodge Challenger sold 3,695 units.

  1. I think the economy is the major factor. Nothing wrong with the 5.0 at all. I know I'd buy one in second if I had the $$$'s.

  2. Ehh, I don't tend to put too much weight on month to month sales, as there are too many factors that contribute to their ebb and flow. The economy being in a roller coaster of recovery isn't helping. I think things will pick up w/the '11 models once Ford puts out special offers on them (financing, cash back, dealer incentives, etc.), and of course once the '10 models are gone, b/c deals on them are crazy good right now.

I know it's only a blip on the radar and all, after 40+ years, but how's the post on that little thing called the 2012 Boss 302 going?
