Sometimes it's hard to get an idea of just how fast fast really is from a set of Nurburging lap times scattered across a computer screen. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: 7:22.4. Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR: 7:22.1. Nissan GT-R: 7:26.7. All of these times are close together, and very fast in their own right. The Ferrari 599XX then lowered the bar again with a 6:58.1. But Pagani recently smashed them all to slow-poke smithereens with a blazing 6:47. This video shows just what that means.
We previously brought you spy shots of the car during its record-breaking lap, but now we have the official in-car video from Pagani showing just what it looks like to lap the Green Hell in just over 30 seconds longer than Stefan Belloff did it in a Porsche 956 race car--the fastest-ever competition lap around the 20.8-kilometer circuit, set in qualifying for the 1983 1000 km Nurburgring race.
Turn up the speakers, dim the lights, and enjoy.
