Race driver Patrick Long of Flying Lizard Motorsports

Earlier today we learned that the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid would be on track for this year's Petit Le Mans. During the launch event, High Gear Media's own John Voelcker grabbed some face time with one of the car's drivers, ALMS racer and Porsche 911 GT3 RSR driver Patrick Long.

Though he does bend to his urge to pun during the interview, his insight into the car's ability on track is enlightening: he says he can brake later into turns and accelerate harder out of them thanks to its 5-7 second burst of power to the front wheels. Head over to GreenCarReports for the full details, including a thorough look at the car's hybrid system.

Along with the Q & A with Long, we managed to get our hands on some new action shots of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid doing what it does best (with more to come). Check them out in the gallery above.
