Whether you want a vehicle for cruising to the mall or for some off road fun, the 2010 Lexus GX 460 can provide you with both. Similar to the Toyota 4Runner, this luxury SUV seems to hide its off road abilities under the sleek exterior body style. The former 263 horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 of previous models have been replaced by a new 4.6-liter V-8 that now gives 301 horsepower. The previous five-speed automatic transmission has also been upgraded to a six speed automatic, but the 329 pound-feet of torque still seems a little on the less powerful side for a vehicle of this type.
Along with the extra additions the 2010 Lexus GX 460 also has more weight to lug around. With an extra 500 pounds added from previous models, the vehicle now weighs 5,300 pounds. It would make sense that with the extra weight there should be a larger engine, but that is not the case. It is claimed that the GX 460 can do 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds, which is a slight advantage over the older design. One plus with the extra weight is that the SUV has a high towing capacity of 6,500 pounds.
These types of vehicles are known to be gas guzzlers and with the GX 460 you will also find yourself going to the pump more often. Getting 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, this is by no means an economically sound car. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System is a new addition that improves the stiffness of the anti-roll bars, giving the Lexus better handling and stability. As standard it has features such as, hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, and stability control.
On the interior you will see an abundance of controls on the steering wheel and the center console. There are multiple functions to control the suspension and various off-road controls. And, $52, 845 is what you will pay for the base model but if you want all the added additions that Lexus has to offer you could pay up $70, 000. The 2010 Lexus GX460 is a nice vehicle, but there is nothing that really stands out to make it significantly different from previous models.
