Just like they do every month Ford Motor Company releases its sales figures for the entire lineup of vehicles and as a whole the brand was up 16.2% from the previous year.  As for Mustang sales lets tap the brakes on the celebration train that was last months 10K plus sales numbers as June Ford Mustang sales have brought us back to reality.  The reality of the situation is Ford sold 1251 fewer Mustangs than May and I cannot give you one good reason why.  For this month I will go out on a limb and predict Ford will kick up the incentives on the 2010 models and some to the 2011 Mustangs.  If you have any good assumptions why sales were off from last month than please let us know in the comments.

Sales of the Ford Mustang for June of 2010 were 8,974 compared to 7,632 from June of 2009 showing a 17.6% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 40,035 compared to 33,788 for 2009, which is a 18.5% increase.

Month to Month sales were down a healthy margin as May 2010 sales were 10,225 compared to June 2010 sales of 8,974 which is a 12% decrease.

Taking a look at the competition the Chevrolet Camaro sold 7,540 while the Dodge Challenger sold 3,086 units.

If you are curious what previous month sales were check out May 2010, April 2010, March 2010, February 2010, January 2010, December 2009, November 2009, October 2009, September 2009, August 2009July 2009, June 2009, May 2009 sales figures.

  1. I'm surprised even 8,000+ units have been sold, in this economy that is!

  2. Some 2011 Mustangs are going for $40,000 plus. I've been a Mustanger all my life, but I won't go more than $30,000 for a close to loaded out Mustang GT

  4. Think about how bad the econony was in the 90's and the 5.0 lx sold like crazy. Im telling you when ford brings back the 5.0 lx sport whith its lower cost mustangs will be flying off the lot!

  5. I agree Jim, How did Mustangs become so expensive. They used to be affordable for the common man and now they have been priced way above what most people can afford. When I do buy one later in the year I am just going with a base model GT (cloth seats, six-speed).

  6. I would guess that there are still some availability issues with the 2011 models. The four closest dealerships to where I live still have yet to receive a 2011 model.
