Some people on Teamspeed forum have reported a rumor from a Porsche Sales Manager meeting that there are some interesting new models on the way from the company.
The first car rumored to be coming out that hasn’t been publicly announced would be later in the year. This would be a 911 “Speedster” similar to the late-80s early 90s models. This car would be rear-wheel-drive only, and come exclusively with the PDK transmission, carbon ceramic brakes, and a 408hp engine. There will only be 100 built, at a price of $200,000 a pop, and come in blue, white or a custom color at additional cost. This could possibly be the 911’s version of the Boxster Spyder, and would be awesome if it comes with a similar “emergency” top.
In the spring of 2011, two cars could be coming out. The first is a Carrera GTS, which will get a wide body, center lock wheels and a special nose treatment. The engine will also make 408 hp, but will be mated to a proper six speed manual transmission. The coupe will run for $103,100 and the cabriolet will cost $112,900.
The next car that is said to be released would be the Cayman’s version of the Spyder, which would be a hopped up, lightened coupe with driving experience over creature comforts. The engine is said to make 330 hp and cost around $65,000.
There was also a little blurb on the 918 Spyder Concept that will be privately shown at Pebble Beach for selected, prospective clients.
