The Lexus LFA is something of a conundrum. It has amazing build quality, a great exhaust note, and some of the best technology available in a road car today. However, the performance aspects of this $375,000 supercar can almost be bested by the next best thing to a Japanese Supercar: The Nissan GT-R.

It might be hard for a performance-value shopper to even consider it, but those seeking exclusivity of this modern incarnation of the classic Toyota 2000GT don’t have to think as much.

Automotive News has reported that Lexus has filled all 500 order slots for the Lexus LFA. To order one of these cars, buyers were required to put down a $125,000 deposit, agree to lease the car for two-years, and have a desire to purchase the car outright after the lease is up. Those in Germany who ordered got VIP treatment by being guests of Toyota at this year’s Nürburgring 24-Hours race, where the Lexus LFA was finally being driven as a production car and not a prototype.

Most people who plunked down their cash to get one of the more interesting cars on the market wanted an amazing supercar without all the flashiness like that of a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Another analogy made by a man who ordered it that the Lexus was like a very well-built, precision wrist-watch, something that many cannot appreciate fully.

Though the thought of a $375,000 Lexus might have been considered a joke, Lexus has proved that there was a market for the car.
