Nissan is taking the necessary steps to help compete against its high performance European competitors like the M, AMG, and quattro series. Nissan's neglected luxury brand Infiniti is recieving an aftermarket performance offering.

Nissan has filed for trademark protection for the names "IPL" and "Infiniti Performance Line."  The trademark would cover high-performance accessories like supercharges, brakes and suspension upgrades, and exhaust, along with interior packages as well.

Ben Poore, Vice President of the Infiniti Business Units, said he intends to reveal a new performance oriented offering by this summer, yet he did not collaborate as to what that offering will be. Infiniti is poised to unveil two new models, possibly bearing the new IPL badge, at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
