Sports Car Review: 2010 Lotus Exige

2010 Lotus Exige S

If you're looking for a luxury sports car that has speed and integrity then look no further. The 2010 Lotus Exige has the looks and ability to outrun most of its competitors, however, like a lot of sports cars it was built for speed, not practicality. The Exige has some disadvantages that keep it from being a vehicle that you would use for everyday driving. With the stiff suspension making for an uncomfortable ride, it’s not advisable to be the only car you have access to drive.

The 2010 Lotus Exige does exude all expectations on the race track and takes the twists and turns with ease. The S version of the Exige gives out 218 horsepower from its supercharged 1.8-liter engine, while the S 240 model generates a more potent 240 horsepower. A six-speed close ratio manual transmission is standard on both versions of the vehicle. There isn't much of a difference when we look at the acceleration time: the S does 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and the S 240 can get to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. There’s no question that this latest Lotus is quick off the mark and with a top speed of 150 mph it has the ability to leave some cars of its class well behind.

Reviewers complain that it’s difficult to enter and exit the vehicle, but the seats are moderately supportive for short journeys. Lotus has designed the interior to be functional rather than adding any extra unnecessary luxuries. They say that this keeps the weight of the car to a minimum and causes less driver distractions. It has two seats and isn’t any good for cargo hauling as it doesn't have a lot of room inside. That being said, it isn't designed for your everyday trips to the grocery store. There is a mere four cubic-feet of trunk space with little to no storage areas within the car.

Fuel economy wise it does 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. As expected, it has an expensive luxury sports car price tag--at $65, 690 it’s the driver’s choice if they want to spend that much. The Exige is a fun sports car to drive and if you're looking for excitement on the race track it’s an ideal purchase.
