Matt brings to the table a very intimate knowledge of modern Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers not only from the books in his collection but from... More
The 2011 Mustang GT has been arriving at dealerships nationwide for about two weeks now and somebody has finally posted up a street race video on YouTube so we can see how the new 5.0 fairs on the street. The video is not really what we wanted to see but its a good ole fashion street race between a new just off the lot 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 and a tired Gen 4 LS1 Camaro SS that is suppose to be all stock. The end result is nothing short of embarrassing for the new 5.0 owner as he gets edged out. Lets hope he was granny shifting his new six-speed. Check out the video below.
Funny they did not show under the hood of the Camaro. I doubt it was stock.

There is no way the camaro is stock. A 2002 ss had 325 hp and 340 ft/lbs torque and weighs about 3300 lbs. The mustang has 412 hp and 390 ft/lbs torque and weighs 3600 lbs. Although 300 lbs heavier, the mustang still has a higher power to weight ratio than that of the camaro. So either the camaro is not stock or the mustang driver isn't very good at driving.
This is not a real race. How many people drive a new car off a lot and immediately do an all out race? Old cammaros were so poorly designed that all they had was a big engine but the rest of the car was crap which is why they stopped making camaros for years. I thought this year camaro was one of the ugliest cars ever made. I want to see test results against the new camaro and mustang.

If you go look at other forums, the guy driving the mustang owns both cars. His friend was driving the SS for him. There are 3 other videos of races out, 1 the mustang wins, the other 2 the f-bodies win. So far, It hasn't looked good for the new 5.0.
