This is, without doubt, the worst possible outcome of a Lamborghini test drive. While on a demo run with a 28-year-old female passenger, the driver of this Lamborghini Gallardo lost control, flew through the air, striking a traffic divider and eventually a light post, where it burst into flames. Both driver and passenger were killed.
The crash is thought to have happened when the driver, reported to be an Italian Lamborghini employee, gave the 520-horsepower car way too much throttle, sending it sliding out of control and on its terminal trajectory.
Whatever the cause of the accident, it serves as an excellent reminder that even in the finest all-wheel-drive machinery, the best safety device is the one behind the wheel.
