The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition was built to celebrate 50 years in motorsports. The standard Z06 will get treated to carbon-fiber goodness as well as ZR1 brakes, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and those nice 20 spoke rims. It will come in two special colors with matching interiors. However production will be limited to 500 cars which will probably be snatched up by ‘vette collectors.
The CorvetteBlogger.com is reporting that GM will be releasing a new option for the Z06 that will help the 7.0 Liter V-8 equipped cars competitive against the cheaper, but similarly equipped, Grand Sport. The customer-requested package will get the designation Z07, and will essentially be a Carbon Edition without all of the fancy special edition features.
The package includes a carbon appearance package, called CFZ, includes things like the splitter, the same 20 spoke rims, but in a gunmetal color. The Z06 includes the Magnetic Selective Ride Control and the carbon-ceramic brakes from the ZR1. The CFZ will be available without the Z07 package as well.
All Z06s will be getting a new exhaust that will have a better, more aggressive sound plus a smoother flowing X-pipe instead of the H-pipe. The cars will also be getting new, second generation Goodyear Eagle F1 run-flat tires, different tires for each corner, that will improve the car’s handling, both in dry and in the wet.
