At the 2010 Beijing Auto Show, Audi unearthed its long wheelbase version of the new 2011 Audi A8. Although it’s still short of its main competitors (pun intended), the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S Series, it gets Audi’s foot in the door. The long wheelbase A8 L’s reveal at the Beijing event was a well thought out advertising plan to capture the heart of China's rich and famous. It’s not an oddity for China’s powerful men to travel in the back of luxury vehicles, and with the extra room in the back provided with the long wheelbase, it’s almost certain that the Audi will be a hit.

The possibilities are endless for what the extra legroom in the back could be used for. In the models unveiled in Beijing, Audi has put in 10.2 inch LCD TVs and a walnut folding table in the vehicle, but other consumers have suggested that a small refrigerator or mini-bar might even be a great option in the new A8 L.

The vehicle might be considered a high-end sedan focused on comfortable seating and a luxurious interior, but don’t count it out on the streets. The roomy sedan boasts a powerhouse engine that pushes 500 horsepower and 460 pound-feet in its flagship model, and can do the 0-60 mph run in less than five seconds--astonishing figures for such a large sedan. Prices haven’t been released yet for the Audi A8L, but they, along with auto insurance prices for the vehicle, aren’t expected to be cheap.
