The 2010 New York Auto Show is this week, with today as the first day. Members of the High Gear Media team are in town to cover the event. So far here are some highlights that might interest our readers.
2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T- Nelson Ireson reports that this sedan is going to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four that is producing 274 horsepower. The SE package offered with this car will get sportier stiffer springs and monotube shocks. Large 11.8 inch front rotors and 11.2 inch back rotors will help get the roughly 3,400 pound sedan stopped quickly. The only downside is that the only transmission is a six-speed automatic with sport shift and no limited-slip differential. The silver lining with this debut could mean the Genesis Coupe 2.0T could possibly get a similar power boost.
Acura TSX Sports Wagon- It’s about everything that we covered in a previous article. But lovers of sporty cars should look elsewhere; Nelson is reporting that Honda has chosen to only offer a sole drive train using 2.4L inline-four and a five-speed automatic transmission. While this probably makes sense from a marketing standpoint, it is disappointing that there is no six-speed or even a V-6 option (as seen in the sedan) for this entry-level luxury wagon.
2011 Nissan Juke- Marty Padgett is reporting that this little hatchback will be coming with a turbocharged 1.6L four that is producing 180 hp and 170 ft lbs. Transmission choices will come as either in CVT or a six-speed manual form. The car will get an optional all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring between the rear wheels. Nissan has a knack for making sporty crossovers and this crossover-lite will be no exception according to the company. Prices will start just under $20,000.
