2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI wing teaser

With Subaru making the regular Impreza WRX Sedan and Hatchback look more like the pumped up STI model for the 2011 model year, designers needed to add something new to make the most extreme of Imprezas stand out from the crowd.

This latest teaser released by Subaru confirms that the automaker is planning something new for its popular sports model. The only details released so far is that Subaru is bringing back the “wing” for its Impreza WRX STI and this teaser shows that it may be one of the highest rear spoilers on a current production car.

For a clue as to what the new wing will look like on the Impreza WRX STI hatch, you only have to look at the former Impreza WRC rally car, which we last saw in competition form back in 2008 just before the automaker pulled out of the sport.

Stay tuned for an update following the unveiling of the 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI and its new wing at the 2010 New York Auto Show this week.
