But when the bride and groom are Ford Mustang lovers, they look to the local Ford dealership.
Mustang fanatics Vickie Sue Kilpatrick and Ronnie Cox loved Mustangs so much they decided the local Ford showroom was the perfect place to have their wedding with friends, family and Mustangs looking on--ten cars, to be exact.
Vickie and Ronnie met about three years ago at a Family Worship Center in St. Augustine, Florida.
"We hadn't talked three minutes and we were talking Mustangs," said Kilpatrick shortly after she became Vickie Sue Cox on Sunday afternoon. "We can spot a Mustang by a tail light in the dark."
When Ronnie proposed about six months ago, they began to look for a place to hold the wedding. Ronnie suggested Bozard Ford Lincoln Mercury, but Vickie brushed off the idea. After no luck finding a place to have the wedding they decided to follow up on Ronnie's idea, and contacted the dealership owners who gave them the go-ahead.
With the dealership being closed on Sundays, it made the perfect place to host a wedding. The wedding was held in the showroom in front of some 70 guests with a white convertible Mustang adorned with a veil and a black Mustang coupe with a bow tie on each side of the altar. After the new couple was introduced as man and wife, the band broke into "Mustang Sally"--of course.
As a special wedding gift, Bozard general Manager Letti Bozard contacted Ford about the wedding and they sent the new couple a coffee table book "The Mustang Dynasty" inscribed with a personal note from Bill Ford Jr., executive chairman and great-grandson of Henry Ford.
