The Car Connection has just revamped their site, and has new, more in-depth reviews in their Bottom Lines. What did editor-in-chief Marty Padgett have to say about one of the rawest sports car experiences on the market today, the 2010 Dodge Viper.
Marty starts off with the styling. The car has the long hood, short deck look that has always screamed performance. He rightly calls the car, “the stuff of dreams for countless teenagers over the years.”
He also compliments the Vipers simplistic interior, though dislikes the parts bin, miss-matched quality.
The Viper’s performance is described as awe-inspiring and dangerous. While it’s quite easy to get the car going quickly to 0-60, the car has off-throttle, snap oversteer that will bite off the head of the owner whose foolish to take it to the limit in a turn.
The car does possess huge, 14 inch Brembo brakes on both ends that endow the Dodge an impressive 0-100-0 time of 12 seconds and a 60-0 stop in less than 100 feet.
But what’s good for the track isn’t necessarily good for the road. The interior is uncomfortable, a clunky shifter, loud, obnoxious exhaust note, and a stiff ride. Marty writes, “It's great fun on a track, but for everyday driving the Viper's a literal pain in the back. Build quality seems fine, but as mentioned before, material quality's a whole other matter.”
It does come with an available navigation system, as well as a satellite radio option. Marty notes that his car is much better than the older version, and hopes that the Chrysler bankruptcy will help it become more refined like the Corvette has.
Marty's Bottom Line? "The 2010 Dodge Viper is truly, truly outrageous, from its ground-shaking performance to the paucity of space and comfort it doles out to its owner."
