Ferraris, and most Italian exotics for that matter, are far from being the most reliable cars on the road. But in an attempt to help ease the fear of owners of some of its older models the company has announced a new 24-month warranty program.

The 24-month Power Warranty will only apply on certified used cars purchased through the official Ferrari dealer network, and according to the company it is the program of its type.

The warranty remains with the vehicle and has a duration of 24 months from the date of purchase provided that the vehicle is correctly maintained (including the annual inspection) at an official dealer or authorized repairer within 30 days of expiry of the first 12-month period. Under the program, customers also receive a free subscription to the Ferrari Magazine and 24-hour Ferrari roadside assistance for the duration of the warranty.

Cars available under the scheme are listed below:

550 Maranello
550 Barchetta Pininfarina

  1. I would like to say, "go Ferrari!" for putting their money behind their cars, which could incentivize them to make ones that don't cost $2/mile to maintain. However, when it comes to fleecing the (now, much larger!) wealthy classes, Ferrari has got it down. This is no doubt just a new way for them to do it. Extended warranties are great, but I'm sure their pricing will provide just a new way to scam their clients while allowing them to elevate resale values.

    Bad stuff?

  2. I know of Ferraris with more than 100,000 miles and going strong. They are not as bad as people think. The problem is that some cars suffer deferred maintenance, and that is bad for ANY car.
